Last updated: March 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Globe Studio ("the Software"), developed and published by Frametools ("we", "us", "our"), processes personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO) and applicable German and European data protection law.

1. Controller

The data controller within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is:

Kevin Schwed / Frametools

Email: info@upvis.de

2. Data We Process

Globe Studio is a desktop application. We do not collect analytics, tracking data, or use cookies. The following data processing occurs through the Software:

a) Geocoding Requests

When you search for locations within the Software, your search queries are sent to LocationIQ (locationiq.com), a third-party geocoding service. This includes:

  • The search query text you enter
  • Your IP address (transmitted automatically by the network request)

LocationIQ processes this data according to their own privacy policy. We do not store or log your search queries on our servers.

b) Update Checks

The Software periodically checks for updates by contacting our server at frametools.io. During this check, the following data is transmitted:

  • Your IP address (transmitted automatically)
  • The current application version

We do not log or store IP addresses from update checks. The update endpoint is hosted on Vercel (vercel.com).

c) Bug Reports

If you choose to submit a bug report, the Software prepares an email addressed to info@upvis.de containing:

  • Your description of the bug (user-provided)
  • System information (operating system, app version, screen resolution)

Bug reports are sent via your default email client. We only process this data to investigate and fix reported issues.

3. Legal Basis

We process personal data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — Contract performance: Geocoding requests are necessary to provide the core functionality of the Software.
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — Legitimate interests: Update checks serve our legitimate interest in providing users with security updates and bug fixes. Bug report processing serves our legitimate interest in improving the Software.

4. Third-Party Services

  • LocationIQ (locationiq.com) — Geocoding service. Data is processed in accordance with LocationIQ's privacy policy.
  • Vercel (vercel.com) — Hosts the update check API endpoint. Data is processed in accordance with Vercel's privacy policy.

5. Data Retention

Globe Studio does not store personal data on remote servers. All project files, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device. Bug report emails are retained only as long as necessary to resolve the reported issue.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

9. Website Analytics (frametools.io)

Our website at frametools.io uses the following analytics services. These are only activated after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner.

a) Google Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics uses cookies to analyze your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We use IP anonymization (anonymize_ip: true), so your IP address is truncated by Google within EU member states before transmission to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR), providing an adequate level of data protection.

We have enabled Google Signals, which allows cross-device reporting for users who are signed into their Google account and have enabled "Ad Personalization". This may include aggregated data about demographics and interests. No additional personal data is collected by us through this feature — it relies entirely on data Google already holds. Google Signals data is subject to Google's own data retention and privacy policies.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — Your consent via the cookie banner.
Opt-out: You can revoke your consent at any time via "Cookie Settings" in the website footer, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

b) Vercel Analytics

With your consent, we use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused web analytics service provided by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. It provides aggregated data about page views, visitor counts, and web performance metrics. Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — Your consent via the cookie banner.

c) Download Tracking

When you click the download button on our website, we record an anonymous counter increment to track the total number of downloads. No personal data (IP address, user agent, etc.) is stored — only a numeric counter is incremented. This serves our legitimate interest in understanding product adoption (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
